On November 23rd, 2007, at 18.00, the Galleria Palladio opens an exhibition of recent works paintings and drawings by Andrea Gabutti, a Luganese artist living in Geneva.

The artist comes back to his citys public after the personal exhibition at the Museo Cantonale dArte of Lugano, east wing, in 2006, with a series of canvases in different sizes and works on paper. Gabutti enquires into the relationship between life and death, our reality and the fantastic world and the cultural and psychological elements of everyday life.

The imaginary of Andrea Gabuttis paintings and drawings feeds on natural elements, such as plants, flowers and animals, as well as on some peculiar everyday objects: garden gnomes, guns or machines. Some of his works, made light by a rare pictorial approach, give the observer a sense of doubtfulness between presence and absence, current moment and memory, reality and dream. The images tell us of the absurd and vain or, maybe, of a form of poetry of our world.

Among the profusion of images, some refer directly to Swiss iconography William Tell or the mountains or, like Snow White or Diabolik, take us back to childhood memories.

On this occasion, Gabutti also presents a series of drawing, which could be defined as allegorical, on partly brilliant and happy coloured wallpaper.

The exhibition will be open until the end of January, Monday to Saturday from 14.00 to 19.00.

Catalogue:   the catalogue published for the exhibition at the Museo Cantonale dArte, east wing, is available at the Gallery.
